O no? Ho qualche dubbio...

Per non dimenticare Nassiriya

12 novembre: Nassiriya tre anni dopo

Silenzio! Tutti in piedi!
Oggi è il giorno degli eroi.
Di quei diciannove italiani
(poco importa se carabinieri,
militari, civili o che altro)
che tre anni fa, ma sembra ieri,
un’autobomba, o fors’erano due,
decise di far fuori,
perché amici della democrazia
e del popolo iracheno.
Le loro anime saranno volate
in Paradiso, dove finisce
chi ama il prossimo suo.
Ma ci sono sempre vicini
quegli angeli dell’inferno
e noi a loro perché
hanno fatto scattare in noi
una briciola d’orgoglio
e d’amore per quell’articolo
da stadio, il tricolore!
E così tre anni fa le nostre case
erano adornate con bandiere
listate a lutto intervallate
qua e là da qualche straccio
arcobaleno logoro e stinto
con su scritto PACE
come se loro fossero in guerra.
Li abbiamo onorati come
meritavano, ma la medaglia,
quella d’oro al civil valore,
ancora non arriva, grazie
alla solita itala burocrazia.
Oggi, nulla. Al governo ora
c’è chi loda Hezbollah,
chi odia l’America e
il mondo occidentale,
perché liberale e democratico,
preferendo l’oscurantismo
dei terroristi islamici.
Niente cerimonia solenne
dai comunisti e compagnia
solo un banale ricordo verbale,
ché un ricordo in pompa magna
la gente non lo sentirebbe.
Ma noi non scordiamo
chi muore per la libertà
né chi bercia contro un eroe.
Beati voi che, dal Paradiso,
vi risparmiate l’inferno
in cui stiamo piombando,
ormai schizofrenici, dicono.
Onore e gloria a chi la vita
al prossimo consacra,
anche se (o soprattutto se?)
a qualcuno non fa comodo.
Voi, così pochi, avete svegliato
milioni di coscienze sopite.
Allora eravamo tutti vicini,
tranne quelli con gli striscioni
e i passamontagna,
secondo cui diciannove vite
erano troppo poche.
Basta. Non voglio più
parlarvi del mondo di quaggiù.
È così laido, senz’anima ormai.
Non curatevi di chi
vuol farvi precipitare
nel perenne oblio
Gli italiani non lo faranno.
Voi avete il premio che
il Signore destina a chi
fa opere buone
e non buoni propositi
da non mantenere.
Volate, su su con gli angeli,
che vi rendano partecipi
della gloria eterna.
Perché voi eravate giusti,
puri di cuore agli occhi di Dio
che vi darà il Regno dei Cieli.

Map of visited countries

Here is a better picture showing the countries I have visited. This map is better than the one of Virtual Tourist because it includes the Caucasus and Turkey in Europe, but it treates England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as single countries, which I wouldn't have done. create your personalized map of europe or check out our Barcelona travel guide

I have a new blog

One of the cultural aspects of the European diversity I am most interested in is the practice of kissing on the cheeks. I started studying it during one of my several summer holidays spent in France and since then I have been observing what the custom is in all the countries I have visited. Have a look at my new blog! new blog name and more

I have not updated this blog for twenty days! I knew I was a bad blogger, since I'm not constant enough. Anyway, I got my three-year degree in Translation and Interpretation on 19th October with a not very high mark: 104/110. While I was speaking, none of the five professors listened at me! I was very upset. After that, I had a good experience, that is the journey to Budapest, where I spent one week with my mum from 25th October to 1st November. I'll talk more in detail about this journey next time. However, university is starting again on Monday and, although it is a different course, I'll still have the same French teachers. Blah! I am going out now! That's quite unusual for me because I have no friends, so no reason to go out! Antonia Arslan, a professor of Armenian descent now living in Padova, is coming to Rovigo, so I'm going to listen at her with my grand-father who has read a novel by her dealing with the Armenian genocide. However, we don't know about what she will talk now. Let's see... By the way, since I'm too lazy and will have little time from next week, I will definitely use only this blog but will post in different languages to make it European. Bye, Michele

Travelling

As I wrote in my first post, travelling is another of my great passions. The map above, taken from my Virtual Tourist (shortly referred to as "VT") page, shows the countries I have been to, so far. I know they are not well recognizable, so I'll write the list:
- Austria
- Croatia
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Ireland
- Italy
- Luxembourg
- Poland
- Portugal
- San Marino
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Switzerland
- United Kingdom
This list includes places where I've spent just few hours (Luxembourg, San Marino and Portugal) and where, therefore, I must go again. To know more about the locations I have visited, see my page (link on the left side of this webpage).
European countries I still have to visit:
- Albania
- Andorra
- Armenia
- Belarus
- Belgium
- Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Bulgaria
- Cyprus
- Czechia (I don't like calling it "Czech Republic")
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- Georgia
- Hungary (only until 25th October, when I'll go to Budapest!)
- Iceland
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Macedonia (I don't call it FYROM)
- Malta
- Moldova
- Monaco
- Montenegro
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Romania
- Russia (the whole country)
- Serbia
- Slovakia
- Sweden
- Turkey
- Ukraine
- Vatican city
I want to make it clear that I consider as European countries all the states that are members of the Council of Europe, which includes the Caucasian Republic, Russia and Turkey. I also consider Israel as European, although it is located in Asia.
Other countries I may visit:
- Australia
- Canada
- Egypt
- Latin America
- New Zealand - ...
Bye,
Michele

Languages

I am really crazy about languages, European languages. Many people think I'm joking when I say I would like to learn all the official European languages, but I am not. At present, I can speak and write Italian, French, English, German and Spanish; I speak the dialect of my region, Veneto; I can read and write some Polish, Romanian, Slovene, Czech; I have studied Finnish and modern Greek but I must revise them completely. Moreover, I can translate from Latin (very well) and from ancient Greek (with some difficulties). I have taken the decision to keep a different blog for every language I can write. Let's see if I have the time and feel like writing in all of them! Michele

Hello!

Welcome to the blog of a European, Europhile or Europe-lover! My name is Michele, I'm a 23-year-old guy from Italia and I love the European countries, cultures, languages, and more. I have already visited many European states but wish to visit all of them. I love learning languages. I know quite a lot of them but wish to learn all the official languages of Europe. I am considering writing in many languages in this blog, I'll see... Bye for now, Michele
